How to View your Risk Register?

Updated on

Explains how user can view risks

List Risks

When you open the risk application you will see a list of risks, optionally filtered by project or proposal. Learn more about changing columns and filtering the data to search for your own risks.

While you can select your own columns, the information shown in the screen shot above includes:

  1. Describe each risk in detail.
  2. Provide the anticipated probability or chance of each risk occurring.
  3. Estimate the anticipated cost impact (cost increase) resulting from the activation of the risk.
  4. Calculate the overall impact, which is determined by the higher of cost, schedule, or performance impact (schedule and performance impact are currently hidden columns).
  5. Place the risk in a heat-map for your proposal/project's risk policy based on the combination of probability and overall impact. The heatmap band or color is displayed in the "Heatmap" column of the risk register.
  6. Determine the weighted cost impact, calculated as the probability times the cost impact (and times the overall severity for some risks). This amount represents what should be reserved for the chance of this risk occurring.
  7. Both the cost impact (#3) and resulting weighted cost impact (#6) can be in a local currency, assigned as the risk is set up. All risks for a given project or proposal have a weighted cost impact in the primary company currency owning that project or proposal, converted using either SAP exchange rates or exchange rates maintained in that proposal. The project reserve is in this same currency.
  8. The selected response to this risk is also shown above.

Proposal Risks

You can view risks specific to a particular proposal, project, or estimate within the respective (proposal, project, or estimating) application. For instance, in your proposal, click on the "RISKS" tab highlighted below to display the risks associated with that specific proposal. The table displayed is similar to the overall risk register shown above, but only risks related to the particular proposal, project, or estimating WBS are shown.

  1. The same columns as the risk application search or list are displayed with your own option to add/remove columns and save table layouts. In these applications risk, issues and opportunities are grouped by type (risk, issue or opportunity) with the weighted cost impact in primary company currency summed by type
  2. Cost and other impacts, weighted cost impact and weighted cost impact converted to primary company currency are all available
  3. If you expand the header bar by clicking that arrow you will see a summary heat-map with counts of the number of risks falling into each cell or band of the heat-map.

Proposal or Project Risk Heat-map

The proposal or project heat-map shows the total count or number of risks falling into each band of your risk or opportunity policy, as shown below.

Once you show the heat-map you have the option to filter out or hide specific risks by checking and unchecking the colored "bands" you wish to include or exclude. As you uncheck the colored bands, risks pertaining to the unchecked bands disappear from the table below this display.
