Explains how check and edit payment milestones or cashflows on a proposal
Billing Milestones
Billing or payment milestones represent the dates and amounts of money anticipated to be received from the customer for each proposal line item. It is used to predict the cash-in from the customer, which is used in turn to determine the proposal cash-flow.
Billing or payment milestones are created automatically for each proposal CLIN or priced line item based on line item delivery dates.
To view or edit billing milestones, open a proposal and click on the BILLING tab (highlighted below).
- Milestone descriptions are the proposal price line items by default, but can be changed, without changing the assigned priced line item (#2)
- Each milestone is assigned to a priced line item, the line item this payment is for
- The milestone date is when payments are expected, and as explained above defaults to the priced line item delivery date
- By default one milestone is created per priced line item with payment amount = priced line item amount and % = 100. You can edit either:
- The payment amount, causing the % to be calculated from payment amount / priced line item value, or
- The %, causing the payment amount to be calculated from % multiplied by the assigned priced line item value
- Automatic payment milestones are linked to priced line items, with the amount of each payment adjusted as % times priced line item value anytime the priced line item value is updated. Payment milestones are automatic by default, however uncheck this box to prevent the payment amounts from being updated by priced line item changes in value.
