Explains how to add Emergency Contacts or Dependents. If these tabs are not visible you can contact your iBE support consultant to activate.
What are Dependents vs. Emergency Contacts
Dependents are people living in your household or members of your immediate family who depend on your income for living. Employees normally can claim tax deductions for each legally valid dependent without taxable earnings of their own.
Emergency contacts are people the company may need to reach in case of an emergency such as an injury, sudden illness or death. Emergency contacts can also be dependents.
How to Add Dependents
Go to Home > My Profile and click on 'DEPENDENTS' tab. If you haven't added any dependent the list will be empty. Follow these steps:
- Click on '+' icon to add a dependent. A new row will appear (as highlighted in purple).
- You can add your spouse name, son or daughter name or parents/relative or any other based on the options available in the dropdown under relationship column. For example we have added 'Lisa Smith' as spouse and 'Jake Smith' as a son
- Optionally enter their birthdate (often required for tax purposes) and age will be automatically calculated
- If you check the emergency contact column then this dependent will also be added as an emergency contact, as explained in final section, below.
How to Add Emergency Contacts
Go to Home > My Profile and click on 'EMERGENCY CONTACTS' tab. If you haven't added any dependent the list will be empty. Follow these steps:
- Click on '+' icon to add an emergency contact
- A new row will appear. Add name and relationship. For example we have added 'Jacob Mabott' as Close relative
- To add Phone and Email click on their respective cells and a popup will appear. Choose the right label for example we have selected iPhone or Personal Email. Add the mobile number and email id and click confirm.
Alternatively you can add your dependent as an emergency contact too, as explained below.
Add Emergency Contact from Dependent
Go to Dependent tab and under Emergency Contact column you can see a red no entry icon. Red denotes its not a emergency contact.
- To add Lisa Smith as an Emergency Contact click on the red icon and it will change to a tick icon
- A message will confirm that Lisa who was added as a dependent is now added as an emergency contact
- Under 'Emergency Contact' Tab you can see Lisa (dependent) has been added a an emergency contact because tick icon is shown. You can anytime remove a dependent from being an emergency contact (changing tick to a red no-entry icon) or visa-versa.
