Guidance are yellow panels that appear when you open any app in iBE.net for the first time to help quickly familiarize yourself with key features of that app. They quickly outline the basics and some tips to make the most of each app. They do not replace the full on-screen help.

Guidance should come up automatically when you open an app for the first time, or if the last time you opened an app you clicked on "Next time" (see next section) or it was more than three months ago. In exceptional cases guidance will come up for new features when we have upgraded an app and you have not opened it since the upgrade.

Alternatively you can turn on guidance for any app at any time via the "Help" button in the upper right corner of your screen above the search box. Click on the "Help" button and select the highlighted menu item above "Enable Learning Mode". This activates guidance for the app you are currently in, but not for other apps.

There are two ways to turn off guidance, from the guidance panel itself and from your user preferences.

  1. You can simply click on "Dismiss" in the guidance panel, closing guidance and stopping it from coming up next time you open the same app. Use this option if you are already an expert and don't need the guidance
  2. If you click on "Next time" in the same guidance panel, you will still close guidance for now however the next time you open the same app guidance will re-appear. Use this option if you haven't got time to learn about the app just now but you are not yet familiar with all its features
  3. If you want to see the next tip then click on "Next". Once you get to the next time you can also click on "Previous" to return to the previous tip
  4. Finally you can click on "Learn more" to show the full application help, the same as if you selected the first menu option "Help on xxx" from the Help menu (outlined above).

From the user preferences summary page that comes when you click on your name or photo in the top-right corner click on "Advanced Settings" and from the advanced settings panel check or uncheck the option to provide activity coaching or guidance according to your needs. When activity coaching is enabled it will still only show guidance the first time you open an app.
