Defining Project Location

Updated on

Explain when and how to assign a project location

Why Assign a Project Location

You normally assign a project location if your project is based outside your normal place of work and not at the customer's site. It is not necessary to enter a project location if you can get it from your company address or the project's customer address.

How to Enter a Project Location

How to Enter a Project Location

Once you have created or opened your project:

  1. Click on the "KEY INFO" tab
  2. If a location was set up previously in locations list then select the desired location from the pre-existing locations. Click the (+) sign at the bottom of the locations list to enter a new location for this project
  3. Enter the address with separate fields for street, town or city, state or region, country and postal or zip code. The empty cell field labels will automatically adjust (e.g. "Post-code" vs. "Zip") depending on what country you are in; click here for more information
  4. You can see your address on the map on the right panel (as shown above)
  5. If the location will be used again in the future e.g. it applies to more than this one project then click on a "Re-use in future" to store this location in the list of pre-existing locations. You can also save this address as a shared location so that other people in your company can use it.

Adding the project location does not automatically add it to the customer or customer contact. Project addresses are not currently copied into tasks either.
