How to Download Lists to Excel

Explains how to download a list to Excel

Tables or Lists

Data in any table or list in this application can be downloaded to Excel by simply clicking on the download button in the top-right corner of the table

The rows and columns of data you can see on the screen are transferred to your downloads folder (as configured in your browser preferences) and can typically be viewed in the footer of the browser.

Downloaded Data in Excel

Double-click the downloaded file to open it.

Notes:

  1. The data is downloaded exactly as displayed. For example you can see the level 1 WBS elements are "collapsed" in the screen view, so similarly lower level WBS elements are excluded from the download
    • To download the lower level WBS elements expand these nodes first. Technically, if you expand and then collapse lower level WBS elements they still get downloaded, as they change from "not-loaded" to "hidden"
    • There is one exception to rule of downloading exactly what you see which is that the expandable/collapsible column is split into two columns when downloaded: the ID or number and the text are separate columns in Excel, allowing you to sort on either column
  2. Other information, based on which columns happen to be visible, are downloaded. You can modify which columns you can see prior to download
  3. Monetary amounts and quantities, such as "Design to Cost" and "DTC Variance" columns here, are properly downloaded as amounts with a currency or quantities with a unit, and not as text. This allows you to for example sum or sort by these columns in Excel
  4. Dates, such as "Start" and "End" columns here, are downloaded as Excel formatted dates. They will appear in Excel in mm/dd/yy format by default but you can select the column and reformat if desired
